About this place
At Mama Curry, part of the fun is choosing a naan to go with your curry, rather than simply picking a curry on its own. One diner who ordered the cheese naan lunch set enjoyed being able to choose a curry alongside the daily curry, and says prawn curry is a frequent pick. Another customer also ordered the set and noted that the spice level can be chosen. It’s a good option when you want to compare different curries and make naan the centrepiece of your meal.
For a closer look at the curries themselves, one diner’s account of the chicken curry is worth noting: it had plenty of chicken. They described the curry as fruity, and recalled that the tandoori chicken was fragrant from grilling and generously portioned. The menu also includes butter chicken and keema egg curry, as well as chana masala, chickpeas simmered with spices, and baingan bharta, a home-style Indian dish of mashed grilled aubergine mixed with spices. There are choices ranging from meat curries to dishes with chickpeas or aubergine.
Alongside sada naan and cheese naan, the naan selection includes Kashmiri naan, made with nuts and raisins tucked into the dough. A customer who tried it as a takeaway said it was enjoyable on its own, without dipping it in curry. In the same takeaway order, the chicken chow mein was described as made with straight noodles and a moderately spicy seasoning, with plenty of chicken and vegetables. Other options beyond curry include momo, Nepalese steamed dumplings, and vegetable pakora, vegetables fried in a spiced batter.
The restaurant offers both dine-in and takeaway, with lunch and dinner service.
